Only 4 months left!!!!!!

      Hello Everyone,

This past week was pretty good! We had our Zone meeting on Friday and it was great! We talked about lots of things. One of them being the importance of safety here as missionaries. When we are walking in the street, contacting, ect. Being alert to whats going on around us, and what to do in confrontations. So my companion and I did a little sketch to make things "real" haha! So I dressed up like a soldier and my companion dressed up like a street thug haha!

Now, your probably wondering where I got the uniform from. A member that we just re-activated is ex-military and he let me borrow his uniform! It was awesome. So we pretended to have a shootout during the Zone meeting when no one was expecting it. Oh, we also borrowed some nerf guns from one of the youth haha. It was great and we had fun! I have to say, some of the missionaries would have died if it had been real lol. So we were able to see the importance of what to do in situations like that, and having fun at the same time! Hey Mom, I think I would make a great soldier don´t you think!? Captain Strate...hehe. Just kidding thats not on my plans...
We also have a baptism planned this week, but its not likely to occur. He didn´t come to church yesterday and we haven´t been able to find him lately. Hopefully we´ll be able to find him to get him back on the path.
Well, transfers are next week! Wow, this transfer went by super fast! I feel like every transfer goes by faster than the previous one. And Yesterday I compléted 20 months! Still can´t believe it. I still feel like I just got here!
Thats about all for this week. The Easter iniciative is about to start! On March 13th the video will be avaliable! Share it with everyone! I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know that through him, all shall live! Death is not the end. I love you all and have a wonderful week full of miracles!

Baptism set up

         Hello Everyone,

         This week has been good.
We found a new investigator this week which is awesome! His name is Luis and he is super excited and wants to get baptized. He was investigating the church back in December but for issues with his working hours he hasn't been able to attend church. He also just recently moved into our area so we are teaching him now! His baptismal date is for March 12th. Its a miracle!
The Island here is pretty sweet. Lots of tourists that's for sure. Last week I also met some Canadians in the church meetings. They are from Sherwood Park, Alberta and they said that they know some of the Strates! Thats cool!
Being a zone leader is a lot of work! I can't write very much because we have to report to president every week about the zone and all. Sorry!
Thats about all for this week. Have a great week everyone!

         Love,

Update

         Hello Everyone,                                               February 22, 2016
I will try to write all that I can because time is short! We email from a little building with public computers, called a cyber.
I do have a companion now, and his name is Elder Vargas. He is from Cuidad Juarez, Chihuaha. That has to be close to Aunt Mona and Uncle Sam I think. We get along great and he loves working too!
Its pretty hot here in the Island! But there is a lot of wind so that helps.
We also had to help some Elders move houses this week into another house. Other than that, the work has been normal. I hope that everyone had a great week. Congrats Derek for getting into BYU!! Hopefully I will get to go somewhere haha! Have a great safe week! I know that Jesus Christ lives! The Church is true and the Priesthood Power is real!
Love,
Elder Strate

Into a trio

      Hello Everyone,

This was another hectic week!! Wow, that's two in a row. That usually does not happen often...
So I had to take my companion to Cancun because he got pretty sick. And unfortunately he had to go home :( and I am now companionless. So I am now in a trio with two other missionaries- Elder Vargas and Elder Nunez.

So now there is just one zone leader. Its a little bit weird, but I think president will solve the problem pretty quick here. So the trip to Cancun and everything took a few days to straightened everything out. But my companion is now getting the treatment he needs and it should all be fine. Poor guy, I feel bad for him. All we can do now is pray for him.
On the other hand, we had a baptism on Saturday!! Despite all of the traveling and business, we got it done! Her name is Sugeyli (Soo-hey-lee). She is great and She has a lot of support from the young women in our ward.

Busy Busy

Hello Everyone,

This past week has been a little hectic. Lots of running around!
So, as a Zone Leader I now have lots of responsibilities. So on Tuesday we traveled to Cancun for a special meeting on Wednesday morning. It was great! Learned about how we all need to teach repentance and baptize converts. And some other things that we need to change as a mission. And we also had our Zone Meeting the next day here in Cozumel.
There are 10 missionaries here in the Island. The island is fairly big. There is one church here and two wards. I am in the sedond ward. We are 3 companionships in this ward, and 2 in the first ward. May I just say, the Island is great! The members are really excited to work with us and I feel like we should have lots of sucess here. Actually, we have a baptism planned for this Saturday. Hope everything falls through!
We also could not work much this week. After we finished the Zone meeting, my companion got sick. So we had to stay in the house a few days...which was super boring. However, he is a bit better now!
Well, thats whats going on right now. Sorry, I dont have any pictures. But next week I will have some! Thanks for all the love and support. Until next week!!

Love,

Elder Strate

Where's Cozumel?

Transferred to Cozumel - made a ZL

     Hello Everyone,

Sorry for not writing yesterday. We had Transfers!! I have been moved to the Cozumel Zone with Elder Alvarado. Thats right, we are on an Island!! Yay!! And guess what else? We are also the new Zone Leaders here. Its my first time being a Zone leader, so I am really excited! I am going to miss Ucum...I attached some pictures below.
So, Elder Alvarado is also from Veracruz and from the same stake as Elder Dominguez(my previous companion). Things are going great here. We are still getting to know the area and eveything, but its great!
Its super humid here on the Island. I have started to sweat a lot more. But its great and I love it here!! My new companion is great and hes got a great desire to work!
Well, thats about all for this week. Sorry for not writing much. We have to go now because we are out of time. Thanks for all the love and support! Keep working hard and I hope everyone has a safe week!

     Love,
         Elder Strate
